Stuff a Stocking with a 7″

There are only three days left until Christmas, and if you still have a 12311041_569669283196731_579551475977851210_nname on your gift list, you might be getting a little nervous. Not to worry, 7″ are the perfect stocking stuffer–and you can mix and match if you’re unsure what music your hard-to-shop-for loved ones listen to. And if none of the below 7″ (or more that we have in store) catch your eye, remember we have gift cards silk screened on 45s that will always satisfy.

For fans of soulful oldies, there’s the Third Man Records TAMLA and Sun Records reissues. With songs from The SupremesMarvin GayeElvis Presley, and many others, this reissue series keeps the classics spinning. These 45s are perfect for those new to vinyl, those who are well acquainted, and those who are getting back into it.

One of my favorite singles of the year is by The Conquerors. Their “You Must Be Dreaming” 7″ has the groovy tube-warmed sound of 60s garage pop. The band’s harmonies create a lush space for their instruments to rig with their jangling rhythms. The 7″ comes in black or pale, translucent blue–both of which make for the perfect gift for any fan of bands like: The Strokes, The Kinks, The Animals, or Kings of Leon.

If hip hop is more of your loved ones’ style, look no further than Eazy-E’s Merry Muthafuckin’ Xmas. The 7″ mixes Christmas classics with Eazy’s old school griminess. In a phrase, the 7″ is pure magic. With lines like “Now dashing through the snow in candy red top 6-4…,” this 7″ is sure to please any fan of classic hip hop (even the ones who dislike Christmas music).

There’s also the post-hardcore/emo sounds of Couple’s Therapy. The 7″ contains one song by Marietta and one song by Modern Baseball. Angsty and self-aware, the split 7″ has all the catch of early aughts emo without any of the emotional baggage. This split is perfect for fans of: The Get Up Kids, Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, and The Wonder Years.

Love him for his voice or hate him for riffing on Tom Petty, Sam Smith is one of those artists who is able to create epic moments with his expressive vocals. His talents add a touch of vulnerability, of melancholy to the theme song to Spectre. With soaring falsetto and rumbling instrumentals, the “Writing’s on The Wall” 7″ is sure to please any pop fan, any fan of James Bond, or any fan of fantastic vocal dexterity and power.

We have these and many more 7″ in store. Mix and match to make the perfect combo for even the most picky audiophiles. If you can’t find anything that will suffice, remember we have gift cards screen printed on 45s–truly the perfect record.
